Virgin Media has launched a dedicated Eurosport app for TV customers, allowing them to watch content from the channel’s website on their TiVo boxes.

The application brings with it a diet of news and highlights of major sports events from Eurosport’s UK site, alongside interviews from across the sporting spectrum.

This weekend, for instance, it’ll be bringing you highlights clips from the French Open, live coverage of which is being broadcast on British Eurosport and British Eurosport 2.

Customers can access the app through the red button. Alternatively, it’s available through the Apps and Games menu.

Scott Kewley, director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media, said: “We are excited to be the home of all this summer’s live sporting action.

“With even more great sport from Eurosport, we are delivering an unrivalled viewing experience for avid sports fans and the whole family to enjoy.”

Earlier this month, Virgin Media confirmed it has extended its agreement with BskyB to offer Sky Sports channels to its customers.

The announcement, which ensures rights to Sky Sports channels for five years, was seen as a blow for BT, whose BT Sport channel is unavailable to Virgin Media TV subscribers.
