JT has upgraded fibre broadband services for more than 8,000 households and businesses on Jersey in the Channel Islands.

The firm has moved 8,479 super-fast subscribers using its network on to a guaranteed 50Mb tariff, allowing them to take advantage of faster download speeds.

More than a third of JT customers have been switched over to the new network, with all other subscribers set for migration before the end of 2016.

JT’s Head of Commercial Development, Dominic Vye, said the firm is "really pleased" that customers can now benefit from an even quicker broadband service.

"We have delivered this upgrade to the network on budget and ahead of schedule, and I would like to thank the JT team who have achieved that," he stated.

"Our customers told us they wanted a smaller, and simpler, range of products, and better 'entry-level' broadband speeds, and that is exactly what we are now able to deliver."

Mr Vye noted that average download speeds on Jersey have quadrupled in the last 18 months, vastly improving the quality of online services.
