Broadband provider Plusnet says its ongoing IPTV trial is "going very well".

Speaking to ISPreview.co.uk, the company said it is continuing to work towards a TV service, based upon the YouView platform.

TalkTalk and BT both offer TV services using YouView set-top boxes, which offer on-demand content when connected to consumers' broadband routers.

Although Plusnet hopes to introduce IPTV, the firm has given little indication as to when it will be able to offer such services.

"We have not confirmed commercial launch dates at this time," it said.

Plusnet announced plans to open up its closed TV trial - initially restricted to staff members - to fibre customers in December 2013.

Rob Perkins, Head of TV at PlusNet, described this as an "exciting step forward for Plusnet".

"These trials will ensure Plusnet can gain crucial feedback to ensure it launches the best service it can to a wider customer base later in the year," he stated.
