More people than ever before tuned into Sky Sports for coverage of the PDC's 2015 William Hill World Darts Championship.

Over four million viewers watched the action at some point during the two-week tournament, which was staged at Alexandra Palace in north London over the Christmas and New Year period.

Sky Sports recorded 1.7 million viewers during the final on Sunday January 4th, which saw Scot Gary Anderson edge out 16-time champion Phil Taylor 7-6 to claim his first world title.

The TV viewing figures were up by 25 per cent year-on-year, vindicating Sky's decision to launch a pop-up channel - Sky Sports Darts - for the duration of the tournament.

Dave Clark, Main Presenter of Darts on Sky Sports, said the PDC World Darts Championship "just gets bigger and bigger".

"More people than ever have tuned in to see the darts at Ally Pally at Christmas, and they’ve loved it," he stated.
