The Government has extended its Connection Voucher scheme, with more small to medium-sized businesses in Yorkshire and Scotland now able to receive grants worth up to £3,000 to help them receive a superfast broadband connection.

After being rolled out in Glasgow, Inverness, Stirling and Dundee, the service has now been expanded to businesses in Wakefield, Kirklees and Calderdale.

Before, the vouchers were only available to West Yorkshire businesses within the Leeds and Bradford districts, but now more than 27,000 extra firms will be able to take advantage of the vouchers.

Mark Goldstone, Head of Business Representation and Policy at West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, said the extension represents a "huge boost" to businesses in West Yorkshire, where take-up has so far been stronger than anywhere else outside of London. He added: "Superfast broadband is a business critical resource for many companies, and these vouchers take just minutes to apply for and don’t require any match funding."
