Under the new contract, BT Sport will have the rights to show up to 380 live matches per season from Serie A.

The league features European heavyweights such as AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Roma, and plenty of global stars.

Subscribers to BT Sport will also be able to see the top Italian sides in action in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League from next season.

BT Sport will become the home of live European club football in the UK from the start of the 2015-16 campaign.

Simon Green, Head of BT Sport, said the TV provider is pleased to secure the rights to Italian football for another three years.

"Serie A attracts some of the best players in the world," he claimed.

"It is a fantastic, competitive league featuring some of the legendary teams of European folklore."
