Virgin Media has launched a new advertising campaign to illustrate the benefits of super-fast broadband for online gaming.
The latest TV ad introduces gaming enthusiast Nick the Navy Seal - the broadband provider's newest animal archetype.
He joins Ed the Sofa Bear, Ally the Night Owl, the Broadbandits and Chloe the Chatterparrot as part of the Virgin Media marketing team.
In the ad, Nick is seen sitting on the sofa in a darkened living room, totally engrossed in his computer quest against a heavily-armed enemy.
Viewers can hear shooting and explosions coming from the TV set, along with the sound of fellow gamers talking through the seal’s headset.
A voiceover explains that for Navy Seals like Nick, who love playing games online, rapid broadband speeds are essential.
This is to ensure gamers can play in real-time, without the need for buffering.
"Virgin Media customers can enjoy broadband speeds of up to 152Mb, twice as fast as any other major provider," the broadband provider explained.
The firm said its broadband bundles offer "unprecedented flexibility and value" to consumers, all underpinned by its super-fast fibre-optic network.
