Vodafone news

Vodafone TV services could go live in the UK in November this year, it has been claimed.

According to the Telegraph, the mobile broadband provider is working to an autumn 2015 deadline for its entry into the connected-TV market.

The news provider said the company is setting up headquarters for its new TV operation in Hammersmith, West London.

Commercial and technical specialists, who are currently working on an internet-based set-top box for Vodafone TV, will be based at the site.

Vodafone is also set to open a new call centre in Glasgow, which will be dedicated to managing broadband and television customer service enquiries.

The operator is set to enter the fixed-line market in the coming months, as it looks to compete with the likes of BT, Sky, Virgin Media and TalkTalk.

Vodafone is said to be recruiting "dozens of staff" ahead of the launch.

The operator is expected to "significantly ramp up the operation" as new subscribers join over the course of 2015.
