EE continued to extend the reach of its 4G mobile network during the first three months of the year.

At the end of Q1 2015, EE's super-fast mobile services were accessible to 87 per cent of the population - over 55 million people.

EE also increased coverage of its double-speed 4G network to 67 per cent of the population, allowing more people to take advantage of faster mobile broadband.

Overall, EE now has 9.3 million 4G customers in the UK, with another 1.7 million signing up between January and March this year.

The firm says it is "firmly on-track" to reach its target of 14 million 4G customers by the end of the year.

Neal Milsom, Chief Financial Officer of EE, said the broadband provider is delivering strong, consistent commercial performance by giving its customers "the best mobile voice and data network experience in the UK".

"We are leading the charge into new growth areas by cross-selling our innovative range of connected products including 4G tablets, 4G Wi-Fi, fixed broadband and EE TV to our existing customers," he stated.
