Along with its just-announced competitive broadband packages, Vodafone has unveiled a Vodafone Connect router and Vodafone Connect companion mobile app that afford users more control over their home broadband connection.
The latter, which is available for both iOS and Android, allows users to change the Wi-Fi password, control features like ‘Boost’ and ‘Beam’ as well as controlling who’s connected to the network and for how long, through features like ‘Guest Wi-Fi’ and ‘Family Time’.
'Boost’ enables users to supercharge their connected devices and prioritise Wi-Fi speeds to a chosen device within the home for up to two hours, meaning downloads can be completed in a flash.
Meanwhile, ‘Beam’ focuses a user's Wi-Fi signal to where it’s needed most, and 'Family Time’ allows customers to easily manage and set time limits, giving greater control over the availability of a user's Wi-Fi signal.
Household guests can also access WiFi in their friends' homes via the app's ‘ one-click Guest Wi-Fi’ function.
The app works with Vodafone's innovative Connect Router, which is designed to offer enough power for standard and advanced users.
As well as beamforming technology for top optimal Wi-Fi signals, it is also designed to cater for ADSL2+/VDSL2 and Fibre connections, as well as dual band concurrent Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi 802.11ac.
Cindy Rose, Consumer Director at Vodafone UK, said the company's attention to innovation would give consumers a good incentive to sign up to Connect, which will initially be offered to existing customers in Manchester, Berkshire and parts of Hampshire and Surrey followed by Essex, Hertfordshire and Yorkshire in the next few weeks.
She added: "We know our customers depend on us to stay connected, and now we can satisfy their needs both at home and on the go.
"As the only operator in the UK which owns both a fixed and mobile network, we're in a great position to create innovative products and services that give our existing customers reasons to stay with us and new customers reasons to switch.”
