BT Sport is gearing itself up for its exclusive coverage of this season's UEFA Champions League, with its BT Sport Europe channel set to screen all 16 of the first round of group games this week, but it will be inviting Freeview users to get a taste of the action.
The BT Sport Showcase channel, which previously aired Manchester United's Champions League qualifier with Club Brugge earlier in the season, is set to air live coverage of Roma v Barcelona on Wednesday (September 16th).
Securing exclusive coverage of Europe's premier footballing spectacle was seen as something of a coup for BT and arguably showed it was serious about challenging Sky's spot at the top of the market.
The Stadio Olimpico clash between two of Europe's biggest clubs will be available on Freeview channel 59 and is one of 12 UEFA Champions League and 14 UEFA Europa League games BT Sport will be making free-to-air this season.
The channel will also broadcast the Europa League clash between Anderlecht v Monaco on Thursday, September 17th.
