Budget provider Plusnet has announced it is to follow the lead of many other big names in removing free UK weekend and evening calls from its broadband and phone bundles.
According to ISPreview, the move currently only affects new subscribers, although it could yet filter its way down to existing customers.
New subscribers will still pay the same price for Phone Line Rental as before, but it will no longer include any free calls.
Plusnet recently increased its line rental charge from £15.99 per month to £16.99.
Those wishing to add free weekend and evening calls will subsequently have to pay an extra £3 a month, while anytime calls will see that price increase to £6.
However, the provider has done its best to cover the effect of the charge by offering 12 months of free standard 17Mbps unlimited broadband, although it will return to £9.99 per month thereafter when taken alongside line rental.
There is also the option of six months of free “Unlimited Fibre” (up to 38Mbps FTTC), which will return to £14.99 thereafter.
Plusnet's 76Mbps package is also on offer at £10 per month for six months and then £19.99 thereafter.
