SSE has announced it is set six months free broadband and line rental for new customers.

The latest promotion applies to subscribers taking out an 18-month contract on either its broadband or fibre connection bundle.

The deal is one of the few offers in the market to offer a 'free' broadband for an extended period without charging for line rental.

The total cost of the bundle totals £257.88 over the 18 months, with the monthly cost increasing to £21.49 a month after the free six-month period.

Alternatively, those preferring a fibre connection will see their bills rise to £33.49 a month, totalling £401.88.

SSE has a history of offering enticing deals for new customers. The company launched a new promotion back in April offering free copper broadband for two years and half-price fibre broadband.
