Scotland Yard has confirmed that a 16-year-old boy from Norwich has been arrested in connection with the alleged recent data theft from TalkTalk.
The teenager, who has been taken into custody under the Computer Misuses Act, is currently the fourth person to be detained by authorities in connection to the attack on the company's website, which took place on October 21st.
TalkTalk had initially feared the "significant and sustained" attack may have the bank details of millions of customers stolen, before it was revealed that fewer than 21,000 unique bank account numbers and sort code had been accessed.
The latest arrest comes after a 20-year-old man was detained in Staffordshire along with another two teenagers from Feltham, west London and County Antrim in Northern Ireland.
All three have subsequently been bailed.
The ongoing investigation is currently being carried out by the Metropolitan police’s cybercrime unit, the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s cybercrime centre and the National Crime Agency.
