BT Sport is to show Barcelona v Atletico Madrid's upcoming UEFA Champions League clash on its Freeview channel BT Sport Showcase.

Barcelona are bidding to make history by becoming the first club side to defend the European Cup in the Champions League era. But first they must overcome Spanish rivals Atletico Madrid in order to get to the last four.

The first leg of this quarter-final tie takes place on Tuesday April 5th and kicks off at 19:45.

Freeview viewers will also be able to enjoy the UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg tie between Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla.

Taking place on April 7th at 20:05, both sides will fancy their chances as they have each won the competition in recent years.

Simon Green, Head of BT Sport, commented: "Once again Freeview viewers can see some of the best players in the world compete in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League on BT Sport Showcase.

"Both competitions are nearing the end with teams fiercely competing to lift a trophy at the end of the season."

Football is not the only sport on offer to BT Showcase viewers, as the channel will also be broadcasting live Aviva Premiership Rugby action.

Saracens will be bidding to bolster their title bid with victory over Harlequins at the Allianz Arena on Saturday 16th April - and Freeview viewers will be able to enjoy the spectacle from start to finish.

"It’s great to be able to give Freeview viewers the opportunity to experience BT Sport’s exclusively live coverage on BT Sport Showcase," Mr Green added.
