Sky has revealed that the first 4K Sky Q content is to be unveiled later this year.

While no exact date has yet been confirmed, Director of Strategy Nick Hern has revealed at the Connected TV Summit in London that it is looking at a summer rollout.

Mr Hern also stated that the new Now TV box will be rolled out in the summer, allowing customers to benefit from online streamed services and an integrated digital TV tuner.

News of the timing has led to speculation that the launches could be tied in with upcoming sporting events.

The European Championships in France is set to be a big attraction for TV viewers this summer, along with the Rio Olympic Games.

This also means it will be up and running in time for the start of the next Premier League season.
