The Uefa Champions League Final could be set to be streamed on YouTube by BT Sport.
The provider currently holds the exclusive live rights to the competition, with the likes of Gary Lineker fronting its coverage.
However, the viewing figures have been lower than expected. BT Sport is therefore considering showing the Milan final for free on its YouTube channel, as well as on its Freeview channel BT Sport Showcase, so it gets to more people.
A statement from BT read: "We said at the launch that we wanted to make the Uefa Champions League final available for everybody to watch, so any decision on where it is broadcast live in the UK will be made by BT.”
Uefa, meanwhile, has insisted it is happy with its decision to award exclusive Champions League and Europa League coverage to BT Sport.
In a statement, it acknowledged that average audiences are lower than what would be seen on free-to-air channels, but it stressed this would be the case with any pay-TV broadcaster.
"We have an excellent relationship with BT and are especially pleased with their high quality coverage and production," Uefa said.
The average viewing figures on BT Showcase have come to just 200,000 for Champions League games, despite the fact it is on Freeview.
This compares with an average of around 4.4 million who watched European Cup action on ITV last season.
