BT has been urged to focus on the reliability of its broadband infrastructure, following two outages in two days.
A "substantial" power failure at Telehouse North, one of BT's internet connection partners in the Docklands, led to customers struggling to get online yesterday (July 21st).
This came just a day after power issues at one of its internet peering partners' sites in London affected broadband services.
Alan Woodward, a security expert at the University of Surrey, believes these two incidents are a cause for concern.
Speaking to BBC News, he said: "If this level of disruption can be caused by a power problem on one floor of one building housing part of the infrastructure in the UK, you really have to ask how resilient is this piece of critical national infrastructure."
Mr Woodward insisted that security means more than protecting against attackers, as it "means reliability too".
