Virgin Media is gearing up to unveil its response to the competition posed by Sky Q.
Sky Q has been touted as a game-changer in the market as it offers features such as the ability to pause programmes in one room and pick up from the same point on another device.
And with Sky Q's 4K service being launched this weekend, attention has been firmly focused on how rival companies will respond to this challenge.
But now Virgin Media has tweeted a teasing shot of its new set-top box on its corporate Twitter feed.
The company had already said it will be launching a TiVo box with 4K functionality very soon, but its launch now looks imminent.
While the tweet simply reads "we’ll be unboxing something right here for you tomorrow…", with a tightly cropped shot of the device, this hasn't stopped people speculating about what it might offer.
In fact, speculation about the set-top box has been rife for some time, with ourselves at uSwitch putting together a wish-list of what we'd like to see from it earlier this year.
A tactile and user-friendly remote control was flagged up as a priority, as the six-year-old TiVo remote looks a little old-fashioned today, especially when compared with Sky Q's touch-sensitive pad.
The option to record more channels at the same time was also highlighted as a valuable feature, as Sky Q has 12 tuners, compared to three on the TiVo box, as well as more visually appealing menus.
We also stressed that Virgin Media needs to keep up with Sky Q's ability to offer portable recordings, so programmes can be watched on devices such as tablets outside the home.
We'll find out very soon how much of our wishlist has come true.
