Liverpool has come out on top in a survey of mobile broadband performances in major UK cities.
RootMetrics examined the speeds offered by network operators EE, Three UK, Vodafone and O2 in 16 cities across the country.
While Liverpool did not offer the highest mobile broadband speeds overall, it did perform consistently well across all the categories being rated, strongly enough to secure first place in the rankings.
RootMetrics' findings also reflected well on three of the UK's capital cities, with London rising from 13th position in the list to 10th.
Edinburgh, meanwhile, rose from ninth to third in the table, while Belfast finished just behind Liverpool in second place.
However, Cardiff came second from bottom, ahead of Hull and behind Glasgow.
Commenting on London's performance, Scott Stonham of RootMetrics said: "The improvements we've seen are indicative of the steps that operators are taking to tackle the challenges of providing excellent mobile service in high-density areas.
"We hope to continue to see improvements to performance across all cities in the UK, as operators work to ensure a good overall mobile service across these cities' infrastructure."
This comes after Ofcom revealed EE offers the best 4G-based mobile broadband speeds in central London, just ahead of Vodafone.
By contrast, Three UK and O2 were found to be lagging some way behind in terms of download and upload speeds.
