TalkTalk has unveiled new call features to help customers avoid nuisance calls and phone scams.

“Caller Display is being activated for all customers and rolled out in stages, so they can see who is ringing before they pick up the phone.

In addition, TalkTalk is also activating its Last Call Barring service for all customers as standard and is letting people block up to 100 numbers.”

Customers who block a number can also report it directly to TalkTalk by pressing the 1 key on the handset.

TalkTalk noted that these improvements will come at no extra cost to customers.

This, it said, means they could save up to £180, as other providers often charge for added value features along these lines.

Donna Moore, Head of Scam Prevention at TalkTalk, commented: "Scammers are constantly updating their techniques, so we are committed to evolving our call features to protect our customers.

"Unfortunately, phone scams are a serious and growing problem affecting UK businesses and customers, and we are determined to beat the scammers and provide these features at no extra cost.”

TalkTalk went on to state that in the last month alone, it blocked more than 100 million scam and nuisance calls to customers before the phone even rang.

The company added that it was the first UK telecoms provider to block nuisance calls at a network level, as well as the first to offer specific guidelines to customers outlining what information it would never ask them for.
