CityFibre has continued to grow its fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network across the UK this year.

According to the company's latest trading statement, 4,235 customer premises were connected by the end of June 2017. This compares with 3,490 at the end of the first half of 2016.

Figures also showed that CityFibre now has a total of 3,556 route kilometres of operational ducted fibre, compared with 3,150 a year earlier.

Greg Mesch, Chief Executive of CityFibre, commented: "Having materially completed the acquisition of significantly all major duct infrastructure available across the UK's cities outside London, CityFibre is now the largest alternative owner of critical fibre and duct infrastructure across 42 UK towns and cities."

He added that CityFibre is now focused on delivering the "next phase" of Gigabit Britain, boosting its presence in major cities and preparing them for full-fibre rollouts over the coming years.
