Virgin Media is cutting the monthly rental fees for several of its 12-month standalone ultrafast broadband packages.

The VIVID 50Mbps package is being reduced from £33 a month to £26 a month, while the monthly fee for the VIVID 100Mbps deal is being slashed from £38 to £31.

Meanwhile, the VIVID 200Mbps package is being discounted to £36 a month, down from £43 a month, and the monthly charge for the VIVID 300Mbps deal is being cut from £48 to £41.

A £20 one-off activation fee will be charged for all these packages, which offer unlimited usage, access to Virgin Media's Wi-Fi hotspots, free email, internet security and parental controls.

Subscribers will also receive a SuperHub 3 wireless router.
