Vodafone has promised broadband customers it will be easy to claim for a discount if fails to deliver on guaranteed speeds.
From today (March 1st), Vodafone is offering new and upgrading broadband customers what it believes is "the ultimate speed guarantee".
Subscribers to its Superfast 1 package will be guaranteed a minimum speed of 25Mbps, while people on the Superfast 2 package will be guaranteed a minimum speed of 55Mbps.
Vodafone is so confident of delivering on this promise that it has said customers will get 15 per cent off their monthly bill if it ever falls short.
If broadband speeds do fall below the guaranteed level, customers can claim via the Vodafone Broadband app.
Speaking to ISPreview.co.uk, a Vodafone spokesperson assured customers that this would be a very straightforward process.
"The best bit is, we’ve made it easy to claim," the official said.
"There are no clunky forms to fill in and no one to convince. If your speed is below the guarantee, just open the Vodafone Broadband app and click the button if it’s below - and the discount is added. Simple as that."
The spokesperson also stated that after a claim has been made, it will send a request to its triage team to look at the claimant's line, so it can see if any repairs or improvements are required.
Vodafone went on to confirm that if a new line is estimated to deliver below the minimum of 25Mbps, the order will be accepted but the discount will not be applied automatically, as the speeds from Openreach are estimates.
This means that if a person's speed is below the 25Mbps threshold following their ten-day stabilisation period, they will be able to claim the discount via the Vodafone Home Broadband app.
