Who are E.ON?

E.ON are one of the 'big six' energy suppliers in the UK. Formally known as Powergen, the company was created in 1990 and was subsequently bought by German energy giant E.ON in 2002. It assumed the name of its parent company in late 2007.

E.ON customer rating 2018

E.ON earned three-and-a-half stars in the most recent survey of more than 17,000 UK energy customers. The survey, run by independent organisation YouGov and commissioned by uSwitch, asked customers to rate their suppliers in categories including value for money and customer service.

E.ON recent price changes

In March 2017, E.ON announced it would raise prices for standard variable rate, dual fuel customers by 9%. For gas-only customers, prices would rise by 4%; for electricity-only customers, prices would rise by 14%.

This price rise was to be effective 26 April 2017.

Previously, in autumn 2016, the big six supplier had announced it would freeze prices from November through March.

In the first month of 2015, E.ON was the first big six supplier to announce it would be dropping prices for standard, dual-fuel customers by 3.5%. The cut would take effect 13 January.

In December 2013, E.ON gas and electric prices were announced to be increasing by 3.7%. The energy provider stated that the change would take effect on 18 January 2014.

E.ON gas and electric prices previously had gone up in January 2013, when an 8.7% rise was implemented. The company was the last of the big six suppliers to announce a change in this round of industry price rises.

During the previous round of price changes (2011/2012) E.ON was the fourth of the big six suppliers to increase its prices (18% for E.ON gas prices and 11% for E.ON electric costs) and the fourth to drop its prices (6% for E.ON gas prices only).
