Your cover

Level – This type of policy will pay out a lump sum in the event of death or critical illness (if added to your policy). The benefit amount is fixed so will not decrease during the policy term.

Decreasing – The benefit amount decreases over time. Many people use this option to cover a repayment mortgage.

£
When choosing how much cover you need you may want to consider the amount of your outstanding debts, such as your outstanding mortgage balance and other financial commitments, and how much you want to leave your loved ones to help maintain their lifestyle.

Critical illness cover provides you with a lump sum if you were to be diagnosed with a defined critical illness; such as cancer, stroke or heart attack.
When selecting the length of cover you may want to consider when your mortgage will be paid off, or when your dependents and loved ones will be self-sufficient.

About you

/
/
Insurers need your date of birth in order to provide you with an accurate quote.

Whether you smoke or not may affect the cost of your life insurance policy. Smoking includes all tobacco and nicotine products such as cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, pipes and nicotine replacement products such as e-cigarettes or ‘vapers’.

It is important to answer this question accurately as it may affect your cover if you need to make a claim.

You can choose to cover just yourself or both you and your partner, which is known as 'joint life cover'. It is worth noting that if you choose joint life cover most life insurance policies pay out on the first bereavement only.
