1) Check you’re eligible to switch from Lebara Mobile
If you’re out of contract with Lebara Mobile, you're free to switch at any time and it won’t cost you anything.
We know it’s very easy to lose track of your contract end date, though. So if you’re not sure, it’s best to give Lebara Mobile's customer support a ring.
You can reach them on 5588 from your Lebara Mobile phone. Or on 020 3059 0304 from any other phone (standard network rates apply).
The Lebara Mobile customer support team are available 9am-5pm every day.
Rather not speak to anyone? You can also find out your contract end date by logging in to your Lebara Mobile account. Or by opening the Lebara Mobile app.
2) Contact Lebara Mobile to cancel and get your PAC Code
All good things come to an end. To tell Lebara Mobile you’re ready to leave, give them a call on the numbers outlined in step 1.
During the call, you’ll need to ask the support team for a PAC Code. What’s a PAC Code? It’s a short sequence of numbers and letters that you’ll need to transfer your existing phone number to the network that you’re planning to join.
Lebara Mobile is obliged to supply your PAC Code within two hours of your request.
What's critical to note is that PAC Codes expire 30 days after being issued. So if you haven’t used it within this timeframe, you’ll need to contact Lebara Mobile again to get a new one.
3) Find and buy a deal from giffgaff
Right, then. Confirmed you’re out of contract and ready to switch? Good news. Your next job is to choose a deal from giffgaff and sign up for it via uSwitch.
Vodafone will then run some credit checks. After you’re approved, you’ll receive your phone in the post.
4) 4 Contact giffgaff to give them your PAC Code
You can do this via giffgaff’s number transfer form.
5) Insert your giffgaff SIM card
Take the phone from its box and insert your giffgaff SIM. giffgaff advises that there will be some loss of service during the transfer process.
To check whether the giffgaff SIM is active and the transfer has been completed, it’s a good idea to turn the phone on and off during the day.
6) Wait for your number to be transferred to giffgaff
Typically, your number transfer will be completed at some point during the next working day. If a weekend gets in the way, it may take a bit longer.
