How to transfer your number from Plusnet to iD Mobile?

  1. 1) Check you’re eligible to switch from Plusnet Mobile

    Assuming you’re out of contract, you’re free to leave Plusnet Mobile for free.

    If you’re not sure if you’re still under contract, you can contact Plusnet Mobile’s customer support team by calling 500 from your Plusnet phone.

    Alternatively, ring 0800 432 0220 from a landline.

    Plusnet’s customer support opening hours are 7.30am to 10pm, every day.

    Prefer not to call? Your other option to find out the dates of your contract term is to log in to your Plusnet Mobile account.

    And if you’re interested in switching but want a bit more information first, text INFO to 85075.

  2. 2) Contact Plusnet Mobile to cancel and get a PAC Code

    So you’ve chosen a new phone or SIM from the network you’re joining. Your next task is to text PAC to 65075 to get your PAC code. It’s this short, alphanumeric code that will enable you to transfer your existing phone number to the network you want to join.

    If you'd prefer to speak to somebody, just give Plusnet a call, tell them you'd like to leave and request your PAC code. You can do this by calling 500 from your Plusnet Mobile phone, or by ringing 0800 432 0220 from a landline (standard network charges apply).

    All networks are bound by law to supply customers with their PAC Code within two hours of their request. Once you’ve got it, it’s smart to make a note of it. Just in case.

    The important thing to note is that a PAC Code expires after 30 days. If for whatever reason you don’t use your PAC code within this timeframe, you’ll need to make contact with Plusnet Mobile again and request a new code.

  3. 3) Find and buy a deal on iD Mobile

    Found a deal you like the look of on iD Mobile? Okay, now just sign up for it through uSwitch.

    iD Mobile will then conduct some credit checks. After which point, you’ll receive your phone in the post.

  4. 4) Contact iD Mobile to give them your PAC Code

    Almost there now. You’ll now need to get in touch with iD Mobile and tell them your PAC Code.

    Ring them on 0345 6000 789 (standard network charges apply). Opening hours are 8am-8pm every day.

  5. 5) Insert your iD Mobile SIM

    Signed up for a new phone from iD Mobile? Okay, using the pin-key in the box it's time to open the SIM tray and insert your iD Mobile SIM.

    Opted for an iD Mobile SIM only deal? You just need to pop the SIM in your existing phone.

    Your phone number won’t be transferred instantly. But you’ll be given a temporary number to use in the interim, so you’ll still be able to use your phone.

  6. 6) Wait for your number to be transferred

    The time it takes to transfer a number varies between networks. But in general, your transfer should be complete the next day. Unless a weekend or Bank Holiday gets in the way, in which case it may take a little longer.

    But once it's done, you're good to go.
