1) Check you’re eligible to switch from Vodafone
If you’re out of contract, you can switch your contract. To check your contract status, you can either:
Open up the Vodafone app on your phone. Then click on the menu icon on the top right of the screen. Next, click on ‘Upgrade or change plan’ in the second menu that appears.
Now, click on ‘Change plan’ and you’ll see your contract termination date under the heading labelled ‘Agreement length’.
If you don’t have the Vodafone app, you can check your contract end date by logging into your account on the Vodafone site.
Prefer to call? Get in touch with Vodafone's customer support team on 191 on your Vodafone phone. Or on 03333 040 191 from any other phone (standard network charges apply).
Opening hours are 8am-9pm every day.
If you’re keeping your old phone and signing up for a new SIM-only deal with a new network, there’s a chance you may need to get your phone unlocked.
To do this, you’ll need what Vodafone calls a Network Unlock Code (NUC). This is free to obtain and you can get hold of it by filling in a form on Vodafone’s site.
And if you’re interested in switching but want a bit more information first, text INFO to 85075.

2) Contact Vodafone to cancel your contract
Now your phone or SIM card is on its way, you need to contact Vodafone. Just text PAC to 65075 to get your PAC code. It’s this short, alphanumeric code that will enable you to transfer your existing phone number to the network you want to join.
If you'd prefer to speak to somebody, just give Vodafone a call, tell them you'd like to leave and request your PAC code.
Vodafone is legally obliged to supply your PAC Code within two hours of you requesting it. When you’ve got your code, it’s smart to make a note of it. Just in case.
But the most important thing to note is that your PAC Code expires after 30 days. So if you haven’t used it in this timeframe, you’ll have to request a new one from Vodafone.

3) Find and buy a deal from Tesco Mobile
Assuming you’re ready to switch, it’s time to select a deal from Tesco Mobile and sign up for it through Uswitch.
Tesco Mobile will, of course, conduct credit checks. But assuming you pass, you’ll then receive your phone in the post.

4) Contact Tesco Mobile to give them your PAC Code
Now you’ll need to contact Tesco Mobile and give them your PAC Code.
You can get in touch with Tesco Mobile’s customer support team on 0345 301 4455 (standard network rates apply).
Opening hours are 8am-9pm Monday-Friday. 8am-8pm Saturdays and 10am-6pm Sundays.

5) Insert your Tesco Mobile SIM
Okay, now it’s time to insert your Tesco Mobile SIM in your new phone, or in your existing phone if you bought a SIM-only deal.
You’ll find that the number won’t have transferred straightaway. But while the transfer’s underway, you’ll be given a temporary number. So you’ll still be able to use your phone.
-
6) Wait for your number to be transferred to Tesco Mobile
All being well and if a weekend doesn't get in the way, your number should be transferred the next working day. After which point, you’re good to go.
