The BlackBerry Bold 9000
has arrived on 3, marking the first time that a BlackBerry handset has been offer with the network.
The release of the handset on 3 follows a deal agreed last year between the network and BlackBerry manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM) which is aimed at increasing 3’s share of the business mobile phone market.
Customers who sign up for a 24-month contract with a monthly charge of £23.41 per month will get the handset for free and will be entitled to 750 minutes and 100 texts per month as well as unlimited 3 to 3 calls.
They will also benefit from unlimited email and 1GB of internet usage every month.
Renato Bottini, who oversees 3’s business division, told Mobile News: "Business at 3 is still very young after soft launching last July, but in that time our market share has grown significantly, and the deal with RIM will help us increase this further.
"We have seen significant interest from our business channels to take the BlackBerry and we are very happy to add the Bold to our portfolio."
BlackBerry handsets have enjoyed strong take-up from business users due to their incorporation of push e-mail and the opportunity they allow users to edit documents created in Microsoft Office while they are on the move.
