BlackBerry store to open in London?

BlackBerry store to open in London?

A dedicated BlackBerry store is to be opened in London, it has been reported.

According to technology site Pocket-lint, BlackBerry manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM) is planning to open a concession in the Oxford Street department store Selfridges within a few months time.

The concept store will be run by Carphone Warehouse and will be the first BlackBerry shop to open in Europe, the site claims.

RIM has yet to confirm the veracity of the rumours, which Pocket-lint attributes to Selfridges staff.

However, the report is lent credence by the fact that the mobile phone company appears to enjoy a close relationship with the retailer.

This was born out earlier this week when RIM collaborated with Selfridges to create ten-limited edition yellow handsets to commemorate the shop’s centenary.

The collectors’ items, which went on sale just days ago and are priced at £1,000, are apparently already close to selling out.

Those who missed out can console themselves with the news that a range of new BlackBerry handsets are due this year, including a new edition of the BlackBerry 9500 Storm.
