Dedicated portal fuels Vodafone iPhone rumours

Speculation is mounting that Vodafone will be the official UK carrier of the third edition of the iPhone, after the network launched a free portal for Apple’s all-conquering handset.

The UK-based content of the dedicated application suggests that Vodafone could be about to replace O2 as Apple’s handset partner.

Adding further weight to the rumours is the fact that Vodafone already has deals in place with Apple to carry the iPhone in other territories.

The application, which is currently only available to view as a beta version, has been designed to allow users to create a customised page consisting of news and sports headlines as well as local travel information.

Apple has yet to official an official release date for the next version of the iPhone, despite a flurry of rumours circulating online as to its specifications.

Among the features reportedly set to be included is an improved 3.2 megapixel camera with a recording function, an FM transmitter and up to 32GB of onboard storage capacity.
