Nokia gears up for battle with 3 new touchscreen phones

Nokia is poised to release another three touchscreen mobile phones later this year, all of which will use haptic feedback.

According to reports, one of the handsets will also feature a slide-out Qwerty keyboard and has a tablet-style form factor.

The second phone is apparently called the Nautilus and stands out for its slim dimensions. This will also feature a Qwerty keyboard but it will be much thinner.

However, in spite of reporting the existence of a third touchscreen smartphone, news sources have been unable to confirm any details or specifications.

All three phones will run on Symbian S60 Series 5 and will use Vibe Tonz haptic feedback to provide a tactile user experience.

Nokia already offers a brace of touchscreen phones, including N97 and the 5800, but has yet to embrace the technology as enthusiastically as some rival mobile manufacturers.

The move to focus more on touchscreen mobiles is believed to been driven by a loss of market of share to competitors such as HTC.

Release dates for the forthcoming handsets have yet to be confirmed.
