Greenbacks not green agenda fuelling recycling scheme boom

According to analysis from Hitwise, searches in the UK which are concerned with recycling handsets have grown threefold over the last 12 months. But tellingly, it’s the terms ‘recycle mobile phones for cash’ and ‘recycling for cash’ that have shown among the greatest growth.

So, it seems that instead of a burgeoning green consciousness, the trend is being driven by good, old-fashioned cash-consciousness. And, in truth, when you consider that the likes of Fonebank and Envirophone are offering up to £200 for creaky old mobile phones it's not hard to see why.

If you’ve traded in your mobile phone in a similar scheme, we’d love to hear how much you got for it. Tell us in the comments section below.
