LG KM900 Arena review

LG KM900 Arena review

First impressions

The version of the LG KM900 Arena we tested is the Pink edition, which is exclusive to Orange. It’s a cute looking handset, that’s for sure. And we were impressed by how satisfyingly weighty it felt as well as the large, bright display.

Design

Aesthetics are at the heart of LG handsets. So it’s not surprising that the LG KM900 Arena is a bit of a beauty. Tablet-shaped, slim and sporting a brushed metal finish, it’d be just as at home in the South Bank’s Design Museum as it is nestled in your hand.

Not only that, but it’s also smaller than the iPhone, but still large enough to be home to an impressively large three-inch screen.

Features

Where to start? Onboard you’ll find a great five megapixel camera with autofocus and flash as well as a secondary camera for video calling. And there’s geo-tagging on offer, too.

Meanwhile, entertainment comes in the form of an FM radio and media player that harnesses Dolby Mobile for a full, rich sonic experience. There’s also 3.5mm headphone jack, so you can use the phone with high-grade headphones and with expandable memory of up to 40Mb there’s plenty of room for your music collection.

8/10

Software

The handset comes pre-installed a range of useful apps. These include Gmail, Google Maps, Blogger and YouTube. You’ll also find a document viewer for e-mails, a WAP browser and built-in Java games.

8/10

Ease of use

This is where this touchscreen phone and its large display really come into their own. The S-Class interface allows users to run four homescreens, which can be switched quickly and easily through a natty spinning cube.

Just as impressive is the multi-touch web zooming function that allows you skip around sites iPhone-style.

Specifications

HSDPA support makes for a fast web browsing and downloading experience at up to 7.2Mb. Meanwhile, with support for A-GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi, we’d venture that this might just be the best connected device around. There’s also a host of organiser functions, including voice recorder, calculator, stop watch and FM radio.

A built-in FM transmitter enables you to play music wirelessly through a car or home stereo – great for sharing your favourite tunes with friends.
