A forthcoming rugged mobile phone from Nokia, dubbed the 3720, has leaked online.
The new mobile phone is dust and splash resistant and was first sighted by Dutch website Mobile Cowboys.
Its rugged credentials have been underscored by the granting of an Ingress Protection-54 rating, which measures the effectiveness of enclosures on electrical devices.
Specifications for the mobile telephone have yet to be confirmed but it is widely expected to employ the S60 Symbian operating system.
However, in order to make an impact in the rugged phone market the 3720 will have to overcome stiff competition from devices such as the Sonim XP3 Enduro.
Available now from Top 10 Mobile Phones, Sonim’s flagship handset employs a rubbery construction that is so effective that it can be submerged under water for up to half an hour.
According to Sonim, the phone will also work in temperatures of up to -20C or at +60C without breaking down.
