Demand for Palm Pre apps has not been hindered by the limited range of product on offer, new data shows.
According to figures collated by Medialets, Palm’s official Palm Pre App Catalog had recorded close to 700,000 unit sales just two weeks after opening.
The impressive showing comes despite the fact there are currently just 30 products on sale at the site. Furthermore, of these just one has advanced beyond the beta testing stage.
By way of comparison, since July 2008 the 50,000 applications on sale at Apple’s iPhone App Store have been downloaded one billion times.
The Palm Pre was launched in the US on June 6th, and is expected to appear in the UK at some stage during the third quarter.
Among the standout features of the handset are an impressively large touchscreen, a full slide-out Qwerty keyboard, 8GB of internal memory and GPS and Wi-Fi support.
Owners will also benefit from a changeable battery to make usage more flexible.
Current generation Palm devices available from Top 10 Mobile Phones include the Palm Treo Pro.
