Vodafone is set to launch a new gadget that allows handset users to improve their mobile phone reception.
Dubbed the Vodafone Access Gateway, the innovative device works by plugging into user’s home broadband signal and magnifying the 3G signal within the home.
The Gateway, which can be used with any 3G-enabled mobile phone, can be bought free of a contract for £160, but is also to be included in monthly price plans starting from £15 per month.
According to the network, up to four voice calls can be supported at any one time with no impairment of quality.
Ian Shepherd, consumer director at Vodafone UK, said: “The Vodafone Access Gateway will boost indoor mobile phone coverage for customers who today find they need to move around the rooms in their home to get a consistent signal strength.”
Potential buyers will be able to get their hands on the Gateway from July 1st.
Vodafone’s current flagship 3G handsets are the Android powered HTC Magic and the forthcoming Nokia N97.
