Dell could be about to unveil its entry to the mobile phone market this week, it has been claimed.
According to an unnamed source cited by TechCrunch, development of the mobile is at such an advanced stage that computer manufacturer Dell is ready to unveil it for the Chinese market over the next few days.
The site has yet to confirm specifications for the new mobile phone but is thought to resemble the iPhone 3G S and feature a touchscreen user interface in place of a physical keyboard.
TechCrunch also predicts that the handset is likely to employ the Android mobile phone operating system, which has been one of the last year’s success stories after featuring on huge selling models such as the HTC Magic, and HTC Hero as well as the T-Mobile G1 and T-Mobile G2 Touch.
News of the ongoing progress in bringing the handset to market comes after Dell last month revealed that it is consulting mobile phone networks across the globe to help shape the look and functionality of its phones.
