The LG Arena KM900 has racked up over a million sales worldwide in just over six months, the South Korean mobile phone manufacturer has confirmed.
First unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in February, the touchscreen mobile phone was one of the key driving factors behind a highly successful second quarter for LG.
According to the company’s latest figures, some five million LG mobiles were sold during the period from April to June alone. This represents a rise of around 35 per cent from the same period last year.
Dr Skott Ahn, President and Chief Executive Officer at LG, attributed the popularity of the LG Arena to the company’s willingness to engage with consumers to shape the look, feel and specifications of its handset range.
He said: "We will keep going out of our way to gain their insights and reflect their needs in our products.”
Earlier this month, the LG Arena was named Europe’s most eco-friendly mobile phone by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA).
Among the green features of the mobile singled out for praise by EISA was the Arena’s use of reusable materials and the small number of parts employed that make it easier to recycle.
