The LG GD910 watch mobile phone is set to cost far less than early speculation suggested.
Due to launch exclusively on Orange in the UK this month, the LG GD910 had been expected to feature a price point of around £1,000 – placing it beyond the reach of most consumers.
However, the appearance of the mobile on Orange France this week at a starting price of just €899 (£770) suggests that the UK price will, in fact, be significantly lower.
LG’s entry into the burgeoning market for watch-shaped handsets follows the popular sWaP Watch Phone and precedes a rival device from Samsung.
Features of the LG phone, which is the first ever 3G mobile to employ a watch form factor, include a 1.4-inch touchscreen, onboard music player, voice recognition, a text to speech function and a VGA camera.
Owners will also benefit from fast downloads at 7.2Mb thanks to HSDPA support and Bluetooth connectivity.
