Orange mobile phone tariff offers free music

Customers on the newly launched Monkey Tariff can lay their hands on tunes by artists signed to the mighty Universal label every time they top up their mobile phones by £10.

That means that they’ll have access to music from current teen favourite Lady GaGa, indie stadium rockers Razorlight as well as the apparently soon to implode Pussycat Dolls.

According to Pippa Dunn, Orange UK's head of Pay As You Go, the service has the potential to help the battle against online piracy by dis-incentivising teens from stealing music. And, as with the other much touted silver bullet for the problem Spotify, the artists get paid, too.
