O2 mobile phone customers could be able to get their hands on the Palm Pre in under two months time, a report suggests.
According to an anonymous source at O2 cited by Tech Radar, the Pre smartphone, which was released in the US some months ago, is due to be launched in the UK on October 10th.
The mooted date would tie in with earlier indications that Palm’s latest mobile would appear in time to capitalise on the Christmas market.
The success of the phone in the US marks a remarkable turnaround of fortunes for Palm, which had in recent years lost market share to push email-enabled BlackBerry mobiles and other rival smartphones, such as the iPhone 3G S.
Features of the touchscreen-operated mobile phone include a full slide-out Qwerty keyboard, 8GB of internal memory, GPS, Wi-Fi and a changeable battery to make usage more flexible.
Current-generation devices from Palm include the Palm Treo 500v and the Palm Treo Pro.
