LG has showcased a brand new touchscreen mobile phone that allows users to go green by adding an optional solar panel.
The upcoming mobile phone boasts a 3-inch touchscreen and a media player, as well as three megapixel camera and 8GB of internal storage.
However, the handset’s unique selling point is compatibility with a solar panel that fits on the back of the handset to allow users to limit their phone’s carbon footprint.
Set to retail for £29.99, the panel will allow users three minutes of talk time for every 11 minutes that the phone is kept in direct sunlight, according to LG.
The South Korean company has yet to confirm network carriers for price points for the Pop, but the range of specs suggests that it will be affordably priced when it goes on sale in early November.
Dr Skott Ahn, President and Chief Executive Officer of LG, said: “We gave the LG GD510 an optimized feature set which allowed us to concentrate on making the phone more compact and simpler to use.
“The LG GD510 delivers all the essentials in communication, multimedia and entertainment and comes in a compact form factor as well.”
