The survey, which was conducted by MoneySupermarket.com, found that youthful sorts have downloaded an average of nine apps over the last 12 months for a total spend of about nine sovs.
More tellingly, the same poll also found that almost 50 per cent of those questioned have either already switched to an app based mobile phone or are planning to do so.
It’s a stunning turnaround for the industry – and one that it hasn’t been slow in capitalizing on. Witness for instance the array of mobile phone market players who now operate an app market selling third party software.
But we anticipate that the trend will get even more marked in months to come, especially when budget Android mobile phones like the Samsung Galaxy Lite and the HTC Tattoo hit the market.
