The iPhone has been named the coolest brand around, in CoolBrands' latest annual survey.
Apple’s handset moved up once place from last year to seal the top spot in the rankings, in so doing knocking last year’s winner Aston Martin into second place.
The Cupertino-based technology giant also grabbed third and fourth places for the Apple brand name and the iPod respectively, with Nintendo rounding off the top five.
CoolBrands chairman Stephen Cheliotis, head of the Centre for Brand Analysis, commented: "The iPhone is something everyone's been talking about.
"There has been such a buzz around it - and people that haven't got one, want one.”
Results for the survey were determined by a public vote from an initial shortlist put together by eminent designers.
The only other mobile phone brand to make the top 20 was BlackBerry, which came in at number seven.
News of the poll results comes as Orange has confirmed it will begin selling both the iPhone 3G S and iPhone 3G before the end of the year, thus breaking O2’s UK exclusivity deal for Apple mobile phones.
