LG is to bring three new Windows Mobile 6.5 powered phones to market before the end of the year.
According to South Korean news provider newswire, new mobile phones will be at the forefront of the South Korean’s moves to build on its recent success by targeting a larger share of the burgeoning market for high-end handsets.
The as-yet-unnamed mobiles will utilise a range of different user interfaces and form factors, newswire claims.
These include a full touchscreen model, as well as one that combines a slide-out QWERTY keyboard with a touchscreen. Also due is a bar-shaped phone with a QWERTY keyboard.
LG is also planning to launch a further 10 Windows smartphones before the end of 2010.
Dr Skott Ahn, President and chief executive of LG, said: “This initial launch is a strong testament that LG is committed to offering a spectrum of choices for our broad range of customers.
“Our work with Microsoft on mobile devices reflects our strategy of offering the best in both hardware and software in all our smartphones.”
