Sony Ericsson’s much-vaunted plan to transform the mobile phone music experience may amount to little more than a new headset, it has been predicted.
Earlier this week, text on a microsite affiliated to the mobile phones manufacturer intimated that an impending announcement from Sony Ericsson would “change the way you listen to music forever”.
The hints were interpreted as a sign that Sony Ericsson was poised to announce a new Walkman music phone or even a download service.
However, according to DailyMobile, in fact the company’s highly anticipated announcement will relate to a new headset that will automatically start playing music as soon as it is put on.
Sony Ericsson, which has enjoyed huge success this year with music-focused Walkman mobiles such as the W995 has yet to confirm or deny the rumours.
Other key Sony Ericsson mobile phone launches due in 2009 include the Pureness, which boasts a radical design and translucent screen, and the Xperia X2.
