An announcement from Sony Ericsson that it is poised to change “the way you listen to music forever” has prompted a rash of speculation over its plans.
Rumours flying over the nature of the announcement, which surfaced on a microsite, include the unveiling of a completely new range of Sony Ericsson music focused Walkman mobile phones.
Meanwhile, technology sites have predicted that the annnouncement is likely to involve a deal between the phone manufacturer and live music streaming service Spotify.
Interested parties will be able to find out what the company has in store for consumers on September 21st when a webcast will reveal all.
News of developments comes at a time when Sony Ericsson’s phone release schedule has been marked by a series of high-end mobiles, none of which are being marketed as music phones.
These include the much-anticipated Sony Ericsson Pureness, which stands out for employing a radical form factor
The Pureness is set to be joined in stores by the Xperia X2 camera phone. This houses an eight megapixel camera, large touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard.
