BlackBerry mobile phone-owning U2 fans can finally get their hands on the band’s specially designed application.
Available to download now, the app features interactive elements as well as enhanced video and music options that tie in with tracks from the group’s most recent album No Line on the Horizon.
According to manager Paul McGuinness, the band sees the software as a means of transferring the visual experience once provided by well designed record sleeves to digital music formats.
Mr McGuinness commented: "As music fans, the band has always enjoyed all the detail of an album gatefold or CD booklet.
“They want to make visual material available with their albums and this app is the ideal way to do it."
U2 currently enjoys a close working relationship with BlackBerry phone manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM), which sponsored the band’s latest tour.
Prior to agreeing the high profile deal with RIM, U2 had partnered with iPhone 3G S maker Apple.
